                 BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

ANGNA KAHUPANI Adivasi Navjeewan Gathan Navjyoti Agua is situated 65 kms West from steel city, Rourkela, 20 kms. West from Rajgangpur cement town and 70 kms East from Sundargarh the district head quarter.

ANGNA (Adivasi Navjeewan Gathan Navjyoti Agua) (Tribal torch of leadership for building new life), which translates verbally to mean “the torch of Leadership for Building of New Life”, has been the leader in bringing hope to the Tribals of the area. ANGNA in the SADRI language means the “courtyard” where everybody has a place to feel at home. This NGO started out in its inception stage in 1994 and was officially registered as a society in 1998 under the Societies Registration Act 1860, XXI, when Remish Ekka started his work in Kahupani. This organization with local participation and under his energetic leadership took it upon himself to do something for and with his Tribal people. As a tribal himself (Kisan) from the area, he decided to initiate an array of community development activities and cooperative type projects for the seven years in the villages throughout the area. As wider experience was gathered and village participation grew so did the number of people and projects.

OUR PROJECTS
Adivasi Navjeewan Gathan Navjyoti Agua At A Glance
ANGNA in ‘Sadri’ local language means Court yard.. In-front of every tribal house there is a court yard. Court yard is where every one in the family feels respected, dignified and free. It is also a place where all social programmes like birth, marriage, deathetc. Ceremonies of family take place. It is a very important place for a every tribal.. (Adivasi Navjeewan Gathan Navjyoti Agua). Adivasi= tribal, Navjeewan= New life, Gathan= Building, Navjyoti=New light, Agua= Leader) literary English translation is ‘the tribal leadership torch for Building new life’. There is a urgent need for building tribal leadership. Secondly leadership of tribals need to be strong, sharp, powerful and shining. Unless tribals themselves come forward to provide this kind of leadership development of tribals is not possible. Therefore ANGNA believes to be create, generate and build such dynamic leadership that will lead the society in the path of progress, a progress with tribal identity.
